The water shortage can be remedied by many different methods. The first method is mulching. Mulching is to cover soil with a material such as dead leaves or compost to further enrich the soil and also to prevent evaporation from exposed soil. Transpiration produced by weeds should also be reduced by keeping the soil between plants dry and implementing weed control measures. Irrigation methods which do not require much water such as hydroponics and aeroponics may also be applied.

How Does Water Cycle Affect Agricultural Production?
When the water cycle in a country is affected and the country’s water supply is cut off, the amount of water in the reservoirs will be reduced, affecting water supply produced from water purification and water reclamation. This will drastically affect water supply in countries with lack of natural water supply such as Singapore.
The reduction of water supply will increase water demand, and affect agricultural production as there will be a lack of water to water the crops. As a result, the crop survival rate will fall, and the yield will be lesser, resulting in a loss instead of a profit.
